​​​Australia’s refugee and humanitarian programme is an important part of our contribution to the international protection of refugees. It is designed to ensure that Australia can respond effectively to global humanitarian situations and that support services are available to meet the specific needs of these entrants.

  • ImmiCards

    ImmiCards are issued to foreign nationals who cannot use, or do not have, and cannot obtain, a passport to establish their identity in Australia.
  • Ministerial intervention

    The Minister has powers under the Migration Act 1958 to intervene in a person's case when the Minister thinks it is in the public interest to do so.
